I’m just not quite sure what to think about this…

Well, I got up after a good night’s sleep and was close to my goal; I got out on the road at 09:10. It was a really pretty drive. I saw this along the way:

A bouquet of jets

It was quite an adventure coming through St. Paul…crikey. What a cluster that place is.

It was only about three hours down to my next spot – another KOA just east of Albert Lea, MN. It was a pretty uneventful drive for the most part…

Except when I saw that White Castle sign on I-35. Rats! I had to fight the steering wheel but went on past. Willpower once again ruled and my diet is intact for another day.

It ruled for only a few miles until I saw the sign. The SPAM Museum! And, as luck would have it, it was a mere 12 miles from my campsite! OH YEAH! And did I go? Do you need to ask? And did I buy stuff? Again, do you need to ask?

No, it doesn’t come from a “spig”

After leaving the museum I had to get ice and replace the split water hose for the trailer. I was using my heated hose but that unruly beast is a pain to roll back up since it is so stiff. I hated to buy another hose to haul around but I just loaded up with about 20 cans of different SPAM varieties I can’t find in stores. So much for saving space.

During this trip I have gotten the usual looks of interest at the trailer, followed by a smile and sometimes a thumbs-up. Today I got a peace sign, probably in reference to the one on the back of my trailer. At one gas stop in ND a guy pulled off the highway just to take a picture of the trailer to show his wife; I guess they have an old trailer from the 1960s or 70s.

I must say it has been very busy with RVs and such on the roads. The reservations are a good idea so I guess I need to keep doing that. But, I think the next few days I may wing it and try to hit a few state parks.

It’s kind of funny – many people asking me about the trailer are driving these huge RVs that are a substitute for their house and nearly as big. They seem pretty interested but then go back to “the other side of the tracks”.

I have looked at bigger trailers but honestly I have gotten pretty attached to this one. Not just about the ease of towing or the fact that it does what I need it to do. It’s also the sentiment of taking it around; it’s what my mom wanted me to do. She loved this little trailer so much.

I have taken it from KS to CO to WA via Canada, it went back to KS, back to WA, down to OR and CA, back to KS again, trips around WA, and now this trip. So far on this adventure I have gone roughly 2100 miles, and still more to go. I think I have done her proud. And, I’m not done yet.

I guess we’ll see what happens next!
