I am in the process of getting a reservation made next week for a campground and I will FINALLY be taking the Scotty out for its pseudo maiden voyage!
I will be heading just over the Cascades to the East side. There is lots to see and do in the area I’ll be in. I am excited to get it out on the road and use it finally. I’ll also be getting to visit a few places I have wanted to see that are not necessarily on my bucket list, but they are interesting things to me nonetheless.
You know me and reservations…I have written about this before. I don’t really like ’em but it IS the summer travel season so I have to do what I have to do to get a good spot. Luckily it is in the middle of the week so I should (🤞) not be too crowded by others. When you only have two days and are leaving after work you have to make concessions to get it to work so that is what I will be doing for the time being. Soon, though, I’ll probably be getting it out to some city and county parks and will be doing some “boondocking”, which is simply finding a place in a forest to stay without any RV hookups. There are many beautiful free dispersed camping sites in all the forests I have stayed in many over the years. With everything available in the trailer I can get by for quite a while doing that!
Yeah, I have used the trailer before but it has been nearly five years using the water, shower, dump stations, kitchen, etc. The trip back from KS was mainly to get it back here to WA and I did not really use it for anything other than sleeping so I didn’t need to pay for hotel rooms. I am really excited to get it out on this shakedown cruise.
I am glad I have most everything done to it before I take it out. I still need to finish the water heater conversion and I grabbed the tools I needed yesterday on the way back home so that should go quick.
Hopefully I will not have any tire issues this time. I still need to buy another trailer tire so I might do that while I am out venturing over that way. I will most likely be taking it to a tire store to get them to change it since it is such a pain in the backside to get the wheel off and back on the trailer. Going after work on Tuesday may not give me enough time to do that, so maybe on the way back on Thursday and it will be taken care of. We’ll see what happens!
It brings back many fond memories of not only my journey moving here five years ago and all the things I did and saw, but it also reminds me of my mom and how much she loved that little trailer. She would go out and sit in it all day and hang out parked in the driveway at the house. She loved people asking questions about it when they took it out. I am sure I will enjoy it at least as much as she did, and that was quite a lot. She loved to go and see places. So yeah, I AM excited for many reasons. I have always loved to travel.
I must have gotten that from her…
