I finally got the brake controller installed today. It was pretty easy like I anticipated it would be and getting the spare tire lowered opened it up for working easier. The worst part was trying to get the steel ties tightened around the main controller unit. I decided to mount it on top of the trailer hitch since it was clean and well-protected from gravel & road debris and the elements. Being up directly behind the spare will act as another barrier to it getting damaged.
Everything appears to be working – the app connects and the lights are working. I have to get the trailer hitched up and towed a little to get some adjustments made before getting on the highway. I also need to get used to how the thing operates. It is the same general principle and functionality as the Avalanche one; it just goes about it differently with the remote and the app.
I searched the interwebs for info on the closest campground for a trip this coming week and I need to go look at the campground in person. Some sites were already taken for this and I’m not sure what amenities the other sites might have – water, electricity and such. I need to do some errands in the morning so I’ll be out and I’ll be going for a look. I’ll be able to also see if it’s a pull-through site, how level, shade or sun (for my solar panels – just in case), availability of water, trash removal, pets allowed, etc. Always gotta check the rules too.
There’s a couple of possible rainy days tomorrow and Monday so I will not go until it’s clear. As always, there’s just no need to go in the rain. It’s one thing if you’re already out, but why leave & set up in it if you’re warm and dry at home?
So the process is done after the final adjustments while it tows and I’ll be able to finally get out. I’m trying to not go too far because of fuel costs. I still have to drive to SD to get my truck registered so I’m saving my money to do that since it’s more important. I also need to empty out that storage unit while there so there’s a few hundred more.

A while back I quit setting an alarm to get up in the morning, and once again and the same ol’ thing happened that always happens – I end up sleeping in too late. That is directly caused by staying up too late (and not sleeping well lately). Granted 08:00 isn’t noon, but I like having my coffee earlier than that. I have a morning routine; I like to get up and not be rushed and get my day started earlier so it’s back to an alarm. I also need to take my meds at a regular time. Waking up at 08:00 also means I never get to the early Costco opening on time to avoid the crowds. Another thing is the days getting shorter so I like to see as much daylight as I can in winter. I am okay with an alarm.
That’s it for now. It’s bedtime. Catch you next time.
