September 10th, 2026 – An Anniversary

It was 14 years ago that I left Colorado on a dark, stormy & rainy morning, losing my job & my house and heading off to a new beginning in Washington state. It was the beginning of an amazing adventure all around. It was also the beginning of this blog and it has come a long way. I have come a long way in many ways as well, both in a personal way and I have had so many cool adventures along the way. Now, it’s fourteen years and 26 addresses later – what a trip it has been. And I am excited for things in the future as well.

I did stop blogging for a year or so about 10 years ago, and I believe that was just after my mom died. She was the main reason I started & continued it then my aunt started reading all of my posts. After my mom died, I was spent emotionally and had to step back a bit for myself – not knowing if I would resume writing after taking some time off from it for some healing. After a while I realized I missed blogging and started back up again a little later and have kept it up since. It could be a form of therapy, I guess, but that’s cool too. Plus, I like writing and there are people out there nice enough to have read my blog at least once and some keep coming back; some have been here from the start. You know who you are…Thank you.

I have seen a lot of blog visits recently and it’s nice people from all over the world are reading my earlier posts. Thank you for taking the time to do that. Every so often I go back and look at some of those old posts myself, but I don’t do it as often as I should. I really ought to take the time to do that.

When I have, though, it takes me back to times that were both good and sometimes not. All the road trips, European adventures, Canada…it’s a long list of amazing adventures. There have been huge changes with my life as I knew it. I can see not only how my life has changed but, as I said earlier, how I have changed personally. It is hard to believe it has been 14 years of adventures, but it also means 14 years older and that is kinda tough to look at sometimes when those in your orbit leave this mortal coil.

However life presses on and we continue on our own path, doing the things we do. Life is a really good thing but it is way too short; gotta live big.

Thanks for walking along my path with me.

See you next time.

Shawn
