What brings you peace?
There are a few things that bring me peace. In no particular order, here they are:
Nature, especially mountains, the PNW coast, and being in the forest. I can just lose myself in any of these places, but the Rocky Mountains in Colorado have always been a magical place for me.
And living in the PNW and living & working in & on islands in the Strait of San Juan de Fuca and the San Juan Islands I developed a love for that rugged PNW coastline with mountains – the best of both worlds!
Travel has always been a big one for me (you probably knew that) but a bit more-so these days. Family vacations when I was a kid and those crazy solo vacations driving after work all night, and all the way up to Europe and just the shortest of road trips for a few hours or a day.
Of course I’ve got this awesome brand new trailer begging me to go someplace. I will sometimes drive all day without a radio, Apple Music, or CDs and just think about life and check out the world as you pass through it. It is very therapeutic to me. Plus the stereo in my Avalanche is shite.
Plus there’s international travel. Recently I have gotten several pretty decent discounted airfares (both domestic and international) so I signed up (again) for a Going (Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights) Elite Membership. My first trip to Europe in 2018 is where I found tickets ridiculously cheap after joining this website so it is money well-spent and it’s good for a year.
Music. Music has always been a huge part of my life, from writing my own music and songs with others, playing guitar and doing vocals in a “band” and with friends to being a stagehand, lighting director & electrician for concerts to being a radio DJ. I went to countless concerts growing up and saw many bands out front and then many from behind the curtain.
Not looking at the news is a recent idea to obtain some peace.
Someone needs to.
Thank you for reading my blog.
