I Left Five Years Ago…

Yep. Five years it’s been. It’s hard to believe and it makes me think back about all of it unfolding, moment by moment, day by day, new experiences one after another. It really seems longer to me – so much has happened since I got here.

That cold, dark, rainy morning I left Colorado I was quite numb. I didn’t know how to feel. I was leaving the familiar, leaving behind friends and special people, and I was totally unencumbered by life. I had no idea what was going to happen, how it would work out, and how I was going to do it, but goddammit I WAS going to do it. When that happens you don’t really know what to do because you can do anything… and everything! No restrictions, no boundaries, and so much freedom. TOTAL freedom.

There have been so many life experiences in the last 5 1/2 years. All the time spent with family (who I do miss… so they need to move 😬), traveling with Rich, my solo trips looking for a place to live/move to and THEN seeing if work was there (because, of course, that’s LOGICAL! Bwahahaha!), my adventure moving, and all the good and bad things that have happened since I got here.

Sure, there have been some rough patches, but don’t we all do that at several points of our lives? It’s how we learn. Some of us it takes repeatedly learning certain things over in our lives though.

Anyhoo, I have thought about this a lot lately and will probably think and post a few times more about it.

So, for me, it’s an anniversary of sorts. A celebration of personal triumph for me over some pretty dire circumstances that were going on in my life.

Sure, I do miss Colorado and may someday go back to retire there when I am done going, but I don’t know for certain. We’ll see how it ends up!

I wish I could do a Five-Year Anniversary tour, but I have to work so I may have to do it my own way…a Five-Year-and-a-month-Anniversary Tour. I might even have to have t-shirts made!

  1. Congrats on the anniversary. No adventure is straight-forward easy but you have taken each day of it and made something out of it and the world is a better place because of all those days.
