I went in for my procedure yesterday, and before the “laser” even got involved the stone came out on its own when they got in there to take care of it. Not very comfortable afterwards, but it did eliminate a third surgery next week! Just a quick office visit left to remove the stent and after the final visit then recovery I’ll be back to my usual shenanigans plus getting out exploring. It will probably be a few days before I can drive if I have to take these serious pain meds afterwards – like today. Kinda surprised I can form words into sentences at the moment!
The weather has been reminiscent of when I first started going to the mountains. Scattered, short bursts of showers, then sun, then hard rain & small hail…typical mountain weather at nearly the same time every day. It’s a good time to be healing since I am not out in it. I am taking it easy today and tomorrow and see how I feel about getting oot & aboot. It could take an extra day or two since the pain has been worse this time for some reason.
Over the last week or two I was able to clear many extra things out of the trailer and got it put into storage when I could. When I packed up to leave KS I had to bring a lot of extra stuff that needed to be with me – papers, winter clothes (since early Spring weather is unpredictable), toiletry extras (I buy bulk), guitars, vinyl albums, DVDs…quite a bit of stuff.
It was so good to get things uncluttered in there. I still have a few things left to put into storage but it is so much better than it was when I left. I need to get a couple of big storage bins for winter clothes to go into for storage. I did some different rearranging and that has helped by putting my clothes back in the drawers under the bed, moving the stuff (maps, travel books, journal, flashlights, etc.) from those drawers to up above the bed. That was the biggest change I wanted to undo.
Very soon I will have it ready to go camping again. With this kidney stone problem and watching what I could do when has kept me from finishing the uncluttering I wanted to get wrapped up. It is much better than it was though. Now that we are heading into June things should calm down weather-wise. I do want to get out exploring & camping before the tourists get too thick starting in a few weeks, but that also hinges on Meghan being out on a fire detail. Been a while since I have lived in a tourist area so that will be an adjustment for me this Summer when I go someplace.
So, I am a little worse for wear after the surgery for a couple more days but will be bouncing back quick, and since I have been wearing the new Garmin and I think the metrics on it are really what I needed to keep track of my health more completely. It has a bit of a learning curve setting it up and I have more work to do on that. In one of the twice-daily reports it said I had a slow day today (resting after surgery) and then it said my fitness is that of a person a year younger – not bad considering Monday it said my fitness was a year older. I’m two years younger than I was Monday!
My Apple Watch Ultra 1 has good health tracking, but I don’t think it has health tracking that is as complete or as customizable. The Garmin is definitely the best for navigating on hiking trails from every review I read, but I have not had the chance to try that out yet. Like I said previously, I do not need a watch mirroring everything on my phone if I have my phone with me; I need it to do other stuff and the Garmin seems to be the answer. I will still pick up a cheaper Apple Watch replacement for those everyday things I mentioned in a previous post.
I am heading to bed. See you next time.
Shawn
