Realtor called me today so I asked him about a closing date. He told me it sounds like this week it is gonna happen for real. I will get one or two extra days of pad time it looks like but I still plan to finish up most things tomorrow.
I really feel like I am finally able to really relax again.
Slept like a log last night. I was dead-tired; I think the constant weeks of doing stuff every day have finally caught up with me, but it all has come together and is working out fine.
The time change is also not helping me. I was damn near late for my appointment this morning; I just could not get motivated very fast. I ended up cancelling the tire rotation to come home and get things done. It made a difference.
I got all but a couple of things in the storage unit today – it is now full. I removed a lot of clothes, pillows & blankets and some other things from the trailer to save some weight and sealed them in airtight bags and put them in storage. I will have to rent a truck to haul it all back after I fly in – hopefully within a few months.
I removed probably a couple hundred pounds from inside the trailer, and my shower used ¼ tank of water. I drained the grey tank so there is another roughly 40 lbs total. I will drain it to get it to where I want to be after I take another shower or two, but that may be enough. Again, it is only until the next campground and I either fill the tank or get a site with utilities. Running the numbers I feel much better leaving that extra weight in the storage unit.
It is going to be a bit different this trip though. Even though the GeoPro is bigger I still take the same stuff as before. I took the Scotty, which was four feet shorter in length and much shorter heighthwise than my GeoPro, from here in Kansas and pulled it to Colorado. The start of this blog in 2012 was when I left Colorado with the Scotty and meandered my way to Washington state via Banff NP and several other Canadian National Parks. I learned all about spartan trailer life in that Scotty on that trip but I had a blast in it. Then a few years ago I was pulling the Scotty back here from Washington. Now, I prepare to turn around and head back in that direction again but now getting spoiled in a new, bigger trailer and a new (probably bigger!) chapter. Pretty excited.
I am wondering about the weather, though. It is looking like some storms here tomorrow afternoon/night so I gotta get stuff to the dump somewhat early. My intended route is not looking too promising for a couple of days so I need to need if I can worm my way through between the storms. Some of it is still sleet and/or snow at various times.
I also saw the temperatures being a bit colder than what I anticipated in a few places. I will need to be looking at some western routes a little closer as options and go north when I can. I need to get this figured out pretty quickly.
So there is today’s news. Travel will soon happen.
Shawn
