Hello and thanks for stopping by my blog! Please pick the appropriate greeting – “Welcome!”, or “Welcome Back!”.
I recently posted about my experience with electronic price tags in Walmart and after researching I found this is not a very innocent change for consumers. In fact it is scary, it is bullshit, and it should be illegal. I won’t regurgitate the issues, but I did find a really good video earlier today about how it all works so check it out.
It has certainly changed my shopping habits. I do not take my phone or Apple watch into any big chain stores these days because of the tracking, and I try to shop in places that are not doing this (so far) – like Aldi. It is a pain since my shopping list is on my phone, so I will be going back to a pen-&-paper shopping list. I also try to go to stores where this is probably not happening.
One thing that really bothers me about all of this is how it has been hidden from consumers/customers all this time. I think they should be required to post a big notice about how they track our devices without our permission. However, it is on everyone because everyone seems to need to share every very private aspect of their life with everyone on the planet. You never should have gotten so trusting, and this is starting to cost you more money at the stores now.
But, it is more far-reaching than that. Check out the video and see if it changes your shopping habits too.

I am tired and should get a great sleep tonight. I finally found a guy to take the piles of scrap metal lying around the house. They were neat piles, but when trying to sell the house it does not look very nice. He came out and we loaded up stuff for about three hours so I am beat. I am so glad to finally have this done and it looks so much better. I thought about taking it in myself but decided not to. He texted me he got $329 out of that trailer of metal.
Shoulda done it myself after all. But, I do not have a trailer or the desire to mess with it. We had a good day working together and chatting and the scrap is all gone.
It was funny…we were talking about the history of the house and area (he is from SE Kansas City, MO) and he said “Dude…how old ARE you?”. I have gotten that question before from people and I always ask them “What do you think?”. Sometimes they are afraid I will be mad if they overestimate. I tell them “You will not hurt my feelings” and they eventually guess. When I tell them they look at me and say “No way”. Seriously, he guessed 15 years UNDER my age (that has happened a time or two before). That sure as heck makes you smile!
I think it is really not how old you look…it is about how old you feel and act that makes people think you are younger. I most certainly do not act like my age; I am not trying to act younger or be in denial about it because believe me I can feel it more these days – especially right now! I am just me and it is how I am every day. I still like my heavy metal music, “Jackass” cracks me up to this day, and I am all about fun.
🥶 💨
It was also not very warm outside loading all that metal up. When we started it was in the 30s and the wind was blowing 20-30 mph. I do believe that qualifies for “wind chill”. We were both busy so we stayed pretty warm and I actually had to remove my shell because I was getting too hot.
I was still cold when we got done and got a hot shower in to help soothe my aching body…which still hurts. My body is not used to working like that so I will be sore tomorrow. I will be driving most of the day so it is a good thing it only hurts when I move.

That is all I have for today. See you next time, and thanks again for having a look!
Shawn
