I have been pondering some things. You know…those things one sometimes ponders. Life. Happiness. Money. Blogging…

Except for about a year that I stepped back for a break, I have been posting here since 2012. That’s quite a long run. You know, other than myself, I really don’t know very many people who like pretty much any form of travel and post about it. Many people are all about the flying to faraway lands and glamorous places (mostly just to impress people), while there are the van-lifers who love the simple life of minimal travel; however, not many seem to love it all. I do and have tried to share that passion in these posts.

I just got the annual billing notification for my blog and it is getting to be expensive. The web hosting is currently about $200/year and at some point soon I will probably be forced to upgrade to have the latest utilities plus additional “tools” for my media, costing me even more ($300-540/year) and it usually goes up every year. It’s been a sizable investment since 2012 to not make any money back on…but money was never the point. It was to stay connected with family.

I will say that I cannot continue with this blog given these prices, but I am looking at some alternatives. I have debated creating a podcast or a YouTube channel for some time now. I know…given my aversion/disdain of social media companies, influencers and Google, it’s hard to believe I have even considered it. I have even surprised myself with this and it’s why I never seriously pursued doing it until after thinking about it since my last WordPress bill a year ago. With the costs rising something has to change.

It’s odd (and to me sad) to think of NOT doing this blog after doing so for 12 years, but it is getting to be an expense I don’t need. I still have a month or so to figure out what, if anything, I will be doing. If I continue by doing some vlog or podcast I will post those details.

Until then I will keep posting on here.
