There is a new thing coming on the market that you may have heard of called “Google Glass”. This is a groundbreaking item by a company known for their search engine and innovation (no comment on Android). The “glasses” respond to commands and is really just a frame with a heads-up display and some type of processing power built in.

Yes, Google Glass is quite innovative, yet the giant can of worms is yet to be opened – privacy. One of the things it does is take video by voice command. Yes, this is cool technology, but why is it that everyone thinks that they have the right to film everyone around them whether they like it it not? I am sorry, but you have NO goddamn right filming me if I do not know you AND give you my permission.

Now, you may be saying “Hey!!! Dumbass!!! You have a blog, so what was that about your privacy?!?!”. My blog is MY choice of MY info shared by ME. Too many people do not respect their own privacy, be it Facebook  or the Patriot Act or using their Social Security Number on forms or as an ID number. If they do not respect their OWN, then they sure as hell will not respect the privacy of others.

This asshole is way out of line, yet if you knock the guy on his ass you will get sued… especially since he has the evidence to show it beyond a doubt. As I watched the video the guy with the cellphone toward the end reminds me of a huge pet peeve of mine. Granted, this guy was having a phone conversation without anyone around; that is as it should be. No one else around wants to hear your conversation so take it away from everyone else. I have been known to mess with inconsiderate assholes that do that around me. If they ever allow cell phone calls on an airplane, I will never fly again.

Okay, back on topic. Sorry for the rant, but I think you get the point. If not, though, keep reading.

The Google Glass will become a huge problem I believe, and I am nearly certain that there will be privacy lawsuits in the future directed at individuals for violation the privacy of others. Again, you cannot knock the technology, but what it unwittingly opens up will be very problematic. Here, however, is an interesting solution to the problem:

And no… I do NOT have a Facebook page. It was a link from a news story. The comment about “…the new fashion accessory for the fanny pack & never removed Bluetooth headset wearing set…” was funny as hell and spot-on. The posting that really was good was  “For the record, The 5 Point is the first Seattle business to ban in advance Google Glasses. And ass kickings will be encouraged for violators.” Kudos to the The 5 Point – I need to go there and cheer them on.

So if you are thinking of buying this product it would probably be best to think before you record… or you just might end up getting footage of your own colon.
