As I write this the smell of fresh cherry dump cake fills the cabin. Tomorrow they are having a picnic/cookout for all of the volunteers and I am unleashing a dump cake on them. I was told today that I also get to be Grill Commando. I am sure it will be fun and I will be seeing some new faces from volunteers that I have not met yet.

Today I got my coat that has an official U.S Fish and Wildlife patch on it. Pretty damn cool I say.

I am also trying to get my guitar rig set up so I can start playing again. It has been too long and I am probably a bit rusty but want to try to do some recording after things calm down a bit for me here (learning a lot!).

Spent my day off today painting at Protection Island. It was a beautiful day to be out there too. Sunshine, about 60 degrees – a little cool and breezy, but pleasant. I got to ride in a new boat today, and it was a cool boat as well. The boat, they say, is very hard to sink (whew!) and is pretty sleek.

I am being told that I may get to sign on the house next week so it will be done and final. No more utility bills for a place I am not living and I will be able to move on with my life and that part of the past is, alas, done. That will be such a relief.

This whole life/career change is one of the best things I have ever done.
