March 30th, 2026 – Downtime…Oh, Sweet Downtime

Not a bad thing to see in the morning…

A nice, slow start to the day and I am loving not going anyplace today. I am getting a few things caught up, but mostly just basking in not driving anyplace.

I got some things done – trailer unhitched & set up, some things brought into the house, some personal business…it was a productive day. Luckily I have more downtime now so I can take care of the last pressing things I need to do.

I am heading out to do some shopping tomorrow. I have been here before, but I really have not spent very much time in the Kalispell area before. I will be seeing lots of new things & places.

It will be nice to get my truck out and drive without towing. I have gotten some of the things figured out but I have more to learn. It has a great-sounding JBL sound system in it, and the speaker in the center of the dash is actually a removable Bluetooth speaker – perfect for annoying those around you not in your group!

I have been to Glacier National Park a couple of times & thought about driving up a little ways but the road is still partially closed out of an abundance of caution against sudden storms; as you can see, there is not much snow on those peaks and that is not a good thing. Even as I got my first glimpse of mountains I was alarmed by the lack of snow.

With some of my limitations for altitude I gotta be careful until I get an opinion from a local cardiologist. I can walk along the lakeshore and that works for me. This shoreline is obviously not at sea level, but it is in my safe zone.

The thing is you should do what you can do and enjoy every moment doing it. I mean, that is really the way to approach life. We should not let things stop us if at all possible. I would love to get back on a ski lift to the top but that is not gonna happen…at least for now. I have not given up on that but I do know I may get stopped for medical reasons. There are things we just may not be able to do as we get older and no amount of complaining is gonna fix it.

…or as the sun sets on the day

I am looking forward to getting out tomorrow and exploring the area. There is so much to discover around here that I have not seen yet. It is so exciting for me to be back out West, in the Rockies & all the other mountain ranges.

I’m gonna wrap this post up for the night. Thanks for stopping by and please come back when you can!

Shawn
