March 20th, 2026 – Sell or Not; Road Trip to Lawrence, KS

I have talked previously about selling my trailer, but I just don’t think I can do that right now. I really need the trailer to do what I want to do for long adventures.

I did get an idea on the price a dealer would give me and it was far too low. I think pricing is being affected by gas prices to some extent. I am better off to just use it like I was planning to plus I need a place to stay while traveling and a hotel gets expensive with two dogs – and that is not what I want to do anyhoo. I do like to get a nice room for myself sometimes and it won’t be with my dogs – if they are along we are getting local mom & pop hotels from now on.

I decided that, for now, my best option is that I will just leave that humongous hitch in the truck and hopefully not walk into the damn thing. That way I can still travel & go camping; those things are really important to me.

It was around 90° F today. My cousin came up and I took him to Lawrence. We killed a little time walking around a huge flea market before heading to a Greek restaurant where I wanted to try and introduce him to Greek food.

The service looked to be non-existent so we left and went to the European and British stores. I picked up an Iron-Bru drink from Scotland for a small taste since I had heard so much but never had one before. It was okay but I do not drink anything other than tea, coffee, and water or a Guinness 0. I imagined it to be much sweeter and syrupy, but it wasn’t and had a faint cream soda flavor we know here in the States. Now I know…don’t need another.

Then we headed back to the truck. We went up a few blocks and over a block to find parking in a different area. We found a free lot near where there was a store we wanted to check out.

As we walked through this little open space over to Massachusetts St., we found a little Lebanese restaurant. I told him that was the spot for lunch and we will come back after we go find that store. He said he would give it a try.

We came back and it was in the basement of a building. This is my first time trying Lebanese food, and his as well. If you have read my blog for any length of time you know I will try lots of different foods (except mayonnaise) and I like to share that passion with others.

It was a small place but very cozy, a nice variety of dishes, and I felt it had a nice atmosphere. There was a group of ladies in there having some sort of celebration – it was very cool and they were all dressed in beautiful traditional clothing.

The service was pretty quick – I got us some falafel for an appetizer and they were really good. We both got shawarma with fries (inside the wrap); I got lamb & beef & he got chicken. It came with what looked to be okra on the side but I’m not having that. He wasn’t either.

They also do hookah there. We did not do that but it isn’t until night time anyway. It would be a fun thing to do with friends even though I don’t smoke tobacco these days. I did suggest he bring his wife back to the place for a hookah session.

We both liked our food (he took home a taste for her) and I hope they will get out to eat at these types of places more often. I told him about a few other “easy” places to eat unique foods.

It was a good time and a nice day to walk around a city and try some new cuisine.

See ya next time.

Shawn
