July 11th, 2025 – Today’s Prompt

What time do you go to bed and wake up currently?

Even though I am retired, I still keep a schedule and I have done so ever since I quit working. I call it a night around 10:00 PM or so and my alarm goes off at 06:00. I usually only have the alarm set for weekdays, but have been setting it every day of the week and it really helps.

My sleep therapy doctor asked about my sleeping habits duting a recent sleep study for a new APAP machine to help with my sleep apnea.

Keeping a schedule helps keep my sleep consistent which helps with my apnea. It can also help with other things like making it easier to go to sleep and wake up feeling better-rested. It can help with cardiovascular health, moods and depression as well.

Having sleep apnea can complicate cardiac issues so I do what I need to do. I have dragged a CPAP around Europe three times and yeah…it really sucks, especially when I travel with only a backpack to make travel easier. I have to carry that damn machine in a travel bag hanging around my neck bouncing around and it is one more thing to keep track of.

But, I will be looking into one of the travel CPAP/APAP options before my next international adventure. They are small enough to pack in my backpack so I will only have one bag to carry.

Even when you don’t work it is still good to keep a schedule for both your physical and mental well-being.

See you next time.

Shawn
