In between the here-there-back while out early running some errands, I saw some interesting things.
First there was a large thing in the road with a couple of vehicles stopped by it. As I approached I could see that it was large, brown and furry, but looked a bit weird for a dog. I got up there next to it and holy cow! It was the largest beaver I have ever seen – dead OR alive! I am not sure if he got hit or not – seemed a bit suspicious…especially with the dead-beaver-shaped chalk outline. I have seen beavers in the mountain lakes & streams; I guess I never really knew much about them being around here when I was a kid.
Then, I made a stop at a little trailhead in Lansing. It is called Seven Mile Creek and is 1.2 miles long total. I did about half, as I was on a mission to get the yard work done and out of the way. Halfway is about where the waterfall is, and was what I wanted to see after all the rain we had. It did not disappoint.

It was a nice little walk and it would be nice if it were longer. It’s a perfect place to get out and get some light walking/exercise and it is a pretty popular place with a paved walkway, some benches and a shelter. The trailhead on the north end of the path is on the east side of the parking behind the Catholic church, and they have placed a grotto just down the trail to the west side in a very nice little space.
So, it may not seem like a very exciting day to some, but it was a nice start to it.
Sometimes that is all it takes.
Until next time…
Shawn
