We got up, strapped on our packs and hit the street heading to our bus stop. We finally got to our stop and loaded up, heading to the airport. It has been a great adventure…but we are not done yet.
We took advantage of my Priority Pass and got breakfast and coffee at the airport. It was a great selection of breakfast items and it was nice to fuel up before we left. We have a bit of travel today.
Our airline, SAS, uses Copenhagen as a hub so we are heading there before flying back home. However, to get there we had to get on a positioning flight and it wasn’t from Dublin. We are headed to Stockholm, Sweden first.
We got to Stockholm and wandered to our gate. I always find my gate; in case there are changes you still have time to make your connection. If not, well you can kick back and relax, maybe find something to eat.
It was a very nice airport, clean and sparse like you’d expect.

They did have something interesting – an indoor smoking pod.

We did grab a few snacks. We only had a layover for a few hours so we unfortunately had no time to leave.
We boarded our plane and took off to Denmark. We had a 17-hour layover in Copenhagen so we were staying the night in city center.
Having a layover built in to your trip is awesome. This is my first trip doing this and I would do it again UNLESS I can fly direct. You get a free extra day of vacation in a new place.
We got to Copenhagen and found our way to the light rail kiosk to buy tickets. It is now around 11:00 PM. I finally figured out the name of our end station did not match what I saw it called somewhere. Once that was done I bought the tickets and we went down to the station to catch the train.
It was dark, with very few people and most of those people were digging through the garbage for recyclables to cash in. Never really felt like any potential for problems while we were waiting. Or train showed up and I kept my eye on my Maps to make sure we got out at the right place.
There were not many people on the train, but there were a few. The guy sitting across from us asked if we needed any help. I said no thanks but we are doing good. If I felt like I needed help I would have trusted him for his assistance, but I had this. He said to ask if he could be of assistance. I thanked him and we exchanged pleasantries on the way off the train.
Copenhagen is a darkly-lit place at night and from what we saw it is a beautiful city in that light. We had to walk about a half-mile to get to our hotel. Of course you are always looking around to make certain there are no safety concerns.

As we walked down the street, I felt pretty comfortable. This city has a great vibe to it. Along the sidewalk was some construction and some walls/fencing. It was dark and hard to tell what it was, but it ended up being right across from our hotel.
We walked into the hotel to check in. They were really nice and very friendly. The guy said we missed out that night and it was too bad we were leaving the next morning; they have a happy hour and then later a wine bar. His words: “It’s like an alcohol buffet!”. Yeah, I am liking Copenhagen.
We got to sleep after organizing a bit. Tomorrow we were getting up, walking back to the train to get back to the airport. I can tell already this is not a long-enough layover.
Back again tomorrow!
