I got the cabinet door repairs finished up inside the trailer. I only had to fix two of the hinge screw holes, and most of the rest of the screws were still staying tight. Everything should be good for a while now.
I got the towel bar installed in the bathroom so that’s finally done. I wasn’t sure where to put the TP holder but I found a good spot out of the way but will still be handy to reach ”in a pinch” (🤣🤣🤣). It still wasn’t easy to overcome drilling holes in my new trailer, but I am glad to have those things checked off my list and they will be nice to finally be able to use.
I don’t think I’ll be mounting the soap dish and toothbrush/cup holder. My shower/tub has a sink in it and there’s shelves built into the corner of the shower so I don’t really have a need to mount those. I guess I could use them in the house. I also don’t think I will mount the TV remote holder; instead I think I will just use a storage bin to keep my remotes in. There’s no drilling and I already have some bins I can use.
I crawled underneath the trailer to look at unbolting the stabilizer jack to repair it but I didn’t feel like doing it yet. The pollen has been really bad and I am still fighting this cold; I don’t need to aggravate the situation again. Hopefully I will feel better in a few days so I can get that taken care of and do more yard work but in the meantime I’m spending that time in the A/C doing things in the house.
Now that the interior things have been finished up the trailer is ready for another trip. I got the floor swept & mopped and, since I’m done inside for now, I got the A/C turned off to save energy.

After that I put up a mesh sunshade across the front of my garage door. I can slide it over to get in & out of the garage with my truck plus move it out of the way when not needed and tie it down in a storm. It may sound strange to do that, but the garage and concrete pad in front are facing south and in direct sunlight last half of the day. In summer the garage door actually gets almost too hot to touch and the garage gets very hot inside.
By putting the shade up it creates shade and an airspace insulator that keeps the direct sunlight from heating up the concrete and the garage door. This keeps the garage cooler which, in turn, keeps the house cooler and saves energy. I got out my infrared thermometer to check and the concrete in full sun was over 120° F and the shaded part was 80° F. That is a substantial difference that will certainly help save energy and keep the house cooler.
The few simple steps like this that I have taken to keep the house cooler is saving me an average of $30 a month over the last year, and probably close to $45-75 a month average altogether the past few years while helping the planet. That is a considerable savings! Keeping curtains closed on very hot and very cold days helps a lot. I also have the thermostat set at 73°F in summer and 71°F in winter, and that’s where the temperature stays set – no raising or lowering. Of course, the wood stove helps in winter too.

I am really hoping to get out in the trailer again soon but there are things I have to get done. I would be happy with just a few days out for now, but I am in real need of a long road trip going to several different places. I do go out for several days sometimes but I need a 2-3 week adventure. Even longer would be even better. I could even suffer through another trip to Europe if I had to.

That’s all until next time. Thanks for reading my blog.
