Woot!; Trailer

Saturday my new wireless microphones arrived. I have been playing with them and did a couple of quick videos to get everything figured out and set up. These are definitely easier to figure out than the gimbal.

As soon as I get over my newly-returned cold symptoms (and no longer sound like Barry White) I can do more test filming and hopefully get started on the real deal. I did one test video to get used to my new stabilizing gimbal and get an idea of how to use it to present things. I do need to do a few more tests to get used to other gimbal features, like the “follow” setting, where it tracks a specific person or thing. It does quite a bit.

The app with the gimbal also does some pretty amazing things and there will be a lot of learning to use it to its potential. I was considering selling my iPad Pro with keyboard and Apple Pencil 2 but I think I can make really good use of those things; I can edit video on my iPad and not have to use my iPhone to do that. There is AI capability built into the app so that will be interesting to play with.

I still have the rest of this month to get things done before I need to have the vlog up and going but I am not going to dick around until the last minute. The things I have read and the videos I have watched have had some great ideas. They suggest getting just a few pieces of equipment to get a decent start and get your chops down (or decide it’s not for you) before investing a lot of money.

I have been making a lot of notes about things I want to talk about. I have several ideas outlined. I have also thought about the recording/editing/computer equipment I have to work with versus what is needed. I mentioned my iPad above, but I also have a DSLR camera, tripod, Bose headphones, AirPods Pro and Mac.

I got into the trailer for a few minutes today and got the worst loose cabinet door fixed. The other ones seem to be okay but I’m going to go back out tomorrow and check all the other screws once more to make sure they tighten.

I figure while I am in there I might as well go ahead and install the bathroom accessories – the towel bar and such. I usually have the towels in the bathroom cabinet but two towels and washcloths takes up a lot of room in there – it’s not a huge cabinet. It needs to be done and it will be nice to have that in place for my towels when parked; when I am traveling I will put them on the bed with the other stuff for the ride. Plus, I will gain more room in the cabinet to store more things.

Since I am trying to keep on the road to recovery I am mostly staying inside in the air conditioning. I want to get the jack fixed on the trailer, and I still have yard work that needs done, but last time I got motivated outside I got sick again. I think I’m waiting until I am completely well again before getting ambitious again.

That’s all for now. Later!
