Talk about some perfect weather, man this has been really nice this past week. We got two more days, then it’s cold a day, then it starts warming back up. I think we are really seeing the last of the cold weather.

This weather is making me want to go!

Yes, I am certainly still excited about my trailer. This will be my first full season with it and I can’t wait to get this season going. It is supposed to be around 18° F in the wee hours Wednesday morning and cold all day. That may slow down my hurry to go, but who am I kidding. I have a furnace and water tank heaters.

With so much to see in close proximity to where I am there are a lot of options for numerous shorter trips around a week. I am still a firm believer that two weeks is the best minimum time for a real vacation “getaway”, but I will usually go when I can for as long as I can – even for just a couple of days. In a week you can really see a lot. You could visit three different places for a few nights each, or even two places three nights each if there’s enough to see and do. Or, just do several long weekends. The options are what works best for you and your travel style.

This is easier to do in the Midwest or in the Eastern U.S. The distances between major places in the Western U.S. are much greater so sometimes your options for fuel, lodging/camping, and food can be limited and/or expensive. I have spent most of the last nearly 30 years in the West and did a lot of traveling around. You just have to plan a bit more.

Yeah, I am happy to travel most anywhere even if it’s just for a day. I have done some really crazy drives in my years on the planet, and had some interesting experiences. Sometimes I drove back all night and went straight into work from vacation. I did that many times back when I could bounce back easier.

These days, since I don’t work, I don’t have to be on a schedule and that makes it really nice. You can drive shorter days, or there may be some days when you’ll be leaving early so you can still be off the road in the afternoon even on longer days driving. Maximum flexibility and it is travel freedom.

I grilled up an Impossible Burger yesterday – my first grilling of the season. It was delicious. I am looking forward to being outside more with some grilling, griddling, and smoking stuff.

I’ve still been working on eating some of the food I prepped a few weeks back. That chicken soup-from-scratch turned out so good. I am pretty happy with that. I added frozen flat dumplings to a batch last week and that was really good. I have sone udon noodles that might be something I will try. The chicken taco meat I have thawed and will be turning into tacos and burritos/chimichangas or maybe even some enchiladas.

That’s it for this post. Weather is awesome and I’m heading outside.
